Our northern counties are just a few hours from the metro areas of Northern Va, Maryland and Washington, DC.Corridor H, the new four-lane corridor now called I-48, connects US 33 in Randolph County with I-79 and opens our mountain region to travelers coming from the west, north, and the south. A newly completed section of Corridor H in Hardy County (from Wardensville to Moorefield, via US Rt. 55), allows easy access from VA I-81 and the eastern metro areas of DC, VA, MD and PA.

FROM THE EAST

To Moorefield:  Take I-66 West to I-81 South for just a few miles to Exit 296 Strasburg. Here catch SR 55 to Wardensville, WV and the new I-48 West to Moorefield. Exit at Moorefield. Maintain SR 55 through the region.  Elkins, the furthest western point of the region, is 4.5 hours from northern VA communities.

FROM THE WEST

Columbus, OH
I-70 East to I-79 South. Exit 99 to US 33 East to Elkins, the western point of the Highlands region.

Parkersburg, WV / Marietta, OH
US 50 East to I-79 South. Exit 99 to US 33 East to Elkins.

FROM THE NORTH

Pittsburgh, PA
To Elkins: I-79 South to Exit 99 to US 33 East.

To Thomas/Davis: Take I-79 South to Morgantown. I-68 East to Rt. 42 South at Friendsville, MD. Rt. 219 South at McHenry, MD to Oakland, MD, then to Thomas.

Harrisburg, PA
Take I-81 South to SR 55 West at Exit 296 Strasburg. Follow SR 55 West to 55 West to Moorefield Exit.

Cumberland, MD
US 220 South to Burlington, US Rt. 50 West to Romney. SR 28/US220 to Moorefield Exit.

FROM THE SOUTH

Norfolk / Richmond, VA
To Franklin: I-64 West to Staunton, VA. I-81 North to Harrisonburg, VA. US 220 North / US 33 West to US 33 West / SR 55 West to Franklin, WV.

To Elkins: I-77 or I-64 to Charleston.  I-79 North to Exit 99 to US 33 East.

To Marlinton: Via I-77 North and I-64, take Lewisburg, Rt. 219 North.
