Cass Scenic Railroad State Park

This charming WV State Park includes the town of Cass which evolved with the logging industry and  that remains relatively unchanged over time.   The park offers an information center, company store, museum, Cass tours and restored company houses now rented as vacation cottages.   A short film helps visitors understand what this community meant to West Virginia and the world beyond. The town is also home to the Cass Scenic Railraod.

Droop Mountain State Park

Droop Mountain State Park is the site of West Virginia’s last significant Civil War battle. The park features a museum, picnic areas with shelters and playgrounds, and a scenic overlook. Beartown State Park is nearby.

Greenbrier River Trail

The Greenbrier River Trail is a 78-mile long rail trail operated by West Virginia State Parks. Trail uses include bicycling, backpacking, cross-country skiing and horseback riding.

Lost River State Park

Nestled in the wooded mountains of Hardy County, Lost River State Park encompasses 3,712 acres creating a vacation getaway. The park features year-round vacation cabins, hiking trails, horseback riding, gift shop and seclusion.

Seneca State Forest

Oldest of West Virginia’s state forests, Seneca borders the beautiful Greenbrier River in Pocahontas County. The forest offers pioneer cabins (seasonal); a four-acre lake for fishing; a small campground and acres of lush woodlands for hiking, hunting or nature exploration.

Watoga State Park

Largest of all the state parks in West Virginia, Watoga has over 10,000 acres of sprawling woodland filled with a multitude of recreational opportunities.Watoga State Park consists of 10,100 acres filled with a multitude of recreational activities including 40 miles of hiking trails, 11-acre lake,  swimming, fishing and boating.     Accommodations include cabins and campsites.
